Unlikely ≠ Impossible
The safety industry runs on statistics. Whether that is a regulation created because of a number of accidents or injuries or the calculated potential risk specific work creates.
Because I live in this world, it’s easy for me to get lost in statistics. Sometimes, statistics lead me to a false sense of security, and I forget that unlikely is not the same as impossible.
This isn’t an invitation to live in fear but a prompt to maintain vigilance. It’s about fostering a mindset of cautiousness without paranoia, ensuring we approach each day with the humility to acknowledge potential dangers and the wisdom to navigate them safely.
Our aim should not just be to prevent accidents but to cultivate an enduring culture of safety.
Unlikely ≠ impossible.
